General Partner. Before joining Mara, Richard Williams was an investor and/or consultant for six privately held start-up biotech companies and one financial company. He was an early-stage investor in Amgen, Igen International and Supergen (all quoted on NASDQ). Currently, Richard Williams is active on the Board of Directors of two biopharmaceutical companies and ASM Resources, the venture arm of the American Society for Microbiology. For the last 12 years he has managed a portfolio in private and public equities for a small group of investors. He worked with venture capitalists to establish Amgen, recruited its first management team and served on Amgen's scientific advisory board for 8 years. Dr. Williams has a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and a M.S. in Finance from George Washington University.
